Outcomes
1. Explain the
magnitude of business in our society and the world.
2. Explain the
history of business and how it has evolved from a subsistence economy
based on barter to a dynamic social institution that is more
productive, more customer focused, more
globally oriented, and more sensitive to innovations in productions and
information technology with increased environmental and social focus.
3. Explain the concept of stakeholders and responsibilities of business to its stakeholders.
4. Explain how
the business environment affects business
decisions and actions.
5. Demonstrate a
working knowledge of the strategic planning process.
Recognize the role and significance of business culture within the process of
strategic thinking.
6. Differentiate
between alternative economic and political systems (market versus planned
economies) as they impact business.
7. Use simple
macroeconomic concepts to explain how growth, inflation, unemployment, and
interest rate changes occur and how a business can anticipate their
occurrence.
8. Differentiate
between traditional decision models and today=s movement toward team
empowerment and team decision-making.
9. Differentiate among sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporations.
10. Apply total quality management and continuous improvement to business
situations.
11. Identify and explain why a business should be concerned with diversity
management.
12. Explain how an
organization can build an ethical culture.
13. Communicate the
basic principles of learning about customer needs.

4 quizzes @ 25 pts. each 100 pts.

SCALE:
The following grading scale will be adhered to:
A = 90 - 100% of total possible points
B
= 80 - less than 90% of total possible points
C
= 70 - less than 80% of total possible points
D
= 60 - less than 70% of total possible points
F
= Below 60% of total possible points
*There will be no extra credit.
CHEATING POLICY: Any student caught cheating on an exam or quiz will receive a "0" (zero) for that exam/quiz.
